Parent-Toddler
Our Approach
At New York Academy we know that learning begins from day one. In our Toddler programs, children learn through play and a wide variety of child-centered activities. They learn fine and gross motor skills and achieve developmental milestones. Helping children develop language skills and use words to express their feelings and thoughts are significant parts of the program. We give children plenty of hands-on opportunities to explore art materials in a safe environment. The focus is on learning through fun play and activity, including music, movement and a variety of sensory learning experiences. The program offers children a well-rounded and rich learning experience.
Mother/Toddler Program
When our youngest students join our school, they are welcomed to the Mother/Toddler Program in order to ease into a new environment and experiences. Here mothers and toddlers participate together in art, music, gym and other activities for one hour a day. Children in this program are typically between twelve and eighteen months of age. The student teacher ratio is currently 6:1.
Toddler Program
When students from our Mother/Toddler Program are ready to advance and attend school alone, we offer the Toddler Program for 1.5 hours a day. In this program, children participate without their mothers. Typically, children are between eighteen and twenty-four months. This program prepares children for Nursery and Pre-School in a fun environment that focuses on learning through play and sets children up to love their educational experience The student teacher ratio is currently 5:1.
